June 5 – Travel Day to Yuma and a Trip across the border
We left Tucson around 7am and headed out on I-10. We stopped
to fuel and went next door to a freightliner shop to pick up a couple of spare
parts. After we split off of I-10 onto I-8 we pulled off and switched drivers
and Pat put a couple of hours behind the wheel. We arrived at Cactus Garden RV
Resort another Encore park and this place is even more empty that the one in
Tucson. I guess they don’t have that much business when the temps are in the
mid and high 90s.
We got all set up and headed out on a day trip across the
border to Alcondones, Mexico. I was looking to get prices for some teeth
cleaning and we bought a few small items. We also had a stop for drinks and
nachos before we headed back to the US and back to the campground.

June 6 – Day 2 in Yuma, AZ
After a grand breakfast again Jeff being the cook we went to
visit Yuma Territorial Prison. Very
interesting for all of those history buffs out there. We took a walk down to the Colorado River and
then drove to downtown Yuma. Pat took
some pictures along the way as we tried to find our way up to a church that we
saw from the prison. We found it and it
was called St. Thomas Mission. Later
that evening instead of playing cards we had DVR’d a few shows of Jeff
Dunham. That man is so funny. Tomorrow we are heading to Desert Hot
Springs, CA. This is the first for all
of us. Some of us have been to CA on
business trips but none of us have taken our RV’s and camped. From here on everything is going to be new
territory.
