Thursday, June 2, 2016 Adventure to Dyea, Gold Rush Cemetery
and Reid Falls
Yes the sun is shining on us today. We took a road trip into Dyea (which is no longer
a town) it followed the river along cliffs and then we walked among the
trees. There was a landslide in Chilkoot
Pass on April 3, 1898 that took about 140 lives and they are buried in
Dyea. We then went to visit another Gold
Rush Cemetery where some famous historical people are buried. I think we had are fill of cemeteries for the
day so we took a short hike to Reid Falls which were pretty spectacular. We had spent a good portion of the day
outside so we pretty tired. Tomorrow we
have a short boat ride across the Fjord to Haines, AK
.
