Sunday, June 5, 2016 Travel to Tok, AK
The road is getting more interesting. In the first 90 miles
after we left Destruction Bay we had 50 miles of road construction, which means
gravel and in some areas an escort through the construction area. It was 225
mile to Tok and 135of that to get to the US border. It took us 4 hours to
complete that part of the trip. As I
stated before the Yukon does a great job in marking the bad parts of the road
but once we got into the US you were on your own. The flags are only there for
the really bad areas and you have to watch out for the other parts. We bounced
really high a few times when I was not paying attention. But all in all we had no problems and no
broken windshield.
We arrived in Tok and fueled up getting ready for our trip
to Valdez, AK tomorrow. Terry and Jim are leaving us for a while and heading to
Chicken so Jim can get rich panning for gold.
I have to mention
this campground, SOUR DOUGH CAMPGROUND.
They are famous for their sourdough pancakes. The owners made us feel very welcome and
right at home. The sites we had were pull through with full hookups. We have found that there aren’t very many
places that have 50 amp and very few that have sewer. This one had it all. But the best part was a pancake toss to earn
a free breakfast the following morning,
Of course Mike and Jim got a pancake in the bucket and won a free
breakfast!! Kudos to the owners, Tim and
Stacy for a great time.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR NEPHEW JARED
