Adventure to Worthington Glacier, Valdez, AK
Before we could get to the glacier we had to travel through
Keystone Canyon. We saw Bridal Veil
Falls and Horsetail Falls. Both of these
waterfalls were beautiful. Valdez gets
over 300 inches of snow a year so of course they are going to have some
wonderful waterfalls. We saw an old
railroad tunnel that was carved into the rock but never used. We also stopped off at Blueberry Lake and
there were tons of wild blueberry bushes but of course the bushes were just
starting to get their leaves. Just
before we made it to the glacier Mike and I both spotted something in the bushes. We turned around and found 2 moose!!!! Mike
was excited. This animal has been very
elusive to us this whole trip.
Worthington Glacier is one of the most accessible glaciers
in Alaska and Mike and I climbed about 1 mile up to the bottom of it. Mike and I crossed over the snow only to
realize that there was running water under the snow. We enjoyed our day out in the cool fresh air. This place is so breathtaking that pictures
can’t capture the true beauty of this place.
At 5 pm we were back to Bayside RV Park for the Eagle
feeding again. We are running into people we have met during our trip and will
probably see them along our journey.
