September 17, 18, 19 and 20. No Car but still moving.
Thursday, September 17 - Well even though the car is in the shop for the next week having a new engine installed that did not stop us from moving forward with some of our plans. We left Mancos, CO and headed toward Rapid City, SD where we have an appointment on Tuesday the 22nd to get our drivers licenses renewed. We traveled over 400 miles and reach our highest altitude in the RV of over 10,800 feet at Wolf Creek Pass. We arrived in Ft. Collins after a long day of driving and parked in the driveway of friends Melissa and Jason (Melissa is our oldest daughter's sister-in-law). We had dinner with Melissa and her 3 kids and did get to see Jason when he returned from a business trip around 8pm and then off to bed.
Friday, September 18 - We got up early and was on the road headed to Rapid City at 6am. We arrived at our campground (Rushmore Shadows RV Resort) around 3 after we stopped at the Air Force base for a commissary run. This campground is a coast to coast park which is costing us $10 a day. It is a very nice park with spacious sites and very centrally located to all of the attractions. We have been here a few times so the attractions have already been seen. We called around and made arrangements for a rental car for Monday and Tuesday so we can get our errands run.
Saturday, September 19 - Today we slept in and hung around the campground (remember No Car) and got some chores completed. A really lazy day. I think Mike is addicted to Hallmark Channel Movies.
Sunday, September 20 - We awoke this morning to the sound of a loud propane burnoff or so we thought. When we looked out of the bedroom window we saw a hot air balloon just clearing the trees right over our RV. There were actually 5 balloons floating by. Is this what we can expect in Albuquerque next month? Anyway, this will be another chore and lay around day since we will not have a car today either. Maybe football will be watched also, who knows.
Happy Birthday to our Great Niece Jaylin who turned 5 today.
