There has been no internet service so posting of this blog
has been impossible so I write the blog and when we get service I will put the
pictures to the blog and post. I think
that this has been the longest so far.
Our next purchase is going to be a laptop so we can go into town and do
what we have to on the internet.
Sometimes it isn’t a bad thing to be without electronics for a little
while. You do realize just how dependent
we have become on our little toys.
Had an awful thought
this morning Jeff and Amy will be leaving us at the end of the month. We have thoroughly enjoyed their
companionship that we are going to miss them a lot. This is one adventure that without them it
wouldn’t be as memorable. It has been 6
weeks since they have joined us and it has been almost 14 weeks since we have
started this journey. It is hard to
believe that we have been gone for that long.
Boys made it back but again no luck. They each had caught some kind of fish but it
was too small so back it went. They did
some more research and made a trip to Walmart to get just a few things and
tomorrow they are going up the road about 1 ½ hours to see if they can bring
home dinner, If not we are having frozen
tilapia.
The temperature was hot and we saw that it had reached 109
degrees just before we took are trip down the river. There were 5 jetboats with about 45 people in
each. As soon as the boat got moving we
were all much better. We did get pretty
wet with the sudden stops and spinning 360 degrees. Other boats splashed us too but we did dry
off kind of fast. It was a 18 mile ride
down the Rogue River. There was plenty
to see. We saw deer, ospreys, canadian geese,
wild turkey and we even saw a mink running along the shore. Some of the houses along the shore were very
nice. We rode through the canyon and
then made our way to the OK Corrral.
This was a beautiful log structure.
Everyone enjoyed their meal and the guys loved that the beer never
stopped coming to the table. They even
had a cobbler made of Marion berries and whipped cream. They are a type of blackberry cultivated in
Western Oregon. It was pretty good. We
were all pretty stuffed when we left for our ride back down the river. We did some more spins, raced the other boats
and just had a good time on the river.
We did get our money’s worth out of the adventure.
