July 11, 2015-Hike to Munson Creek Falls, Farmers Market and Blue Heron, a French Cheese Company

Saturday, July 11, 2015-Hike to Munson Creek Falls, Farmers Market and to Blue Heron,  a French Cheese Company

We left about 11 am this morning knowing that we didn’t have much on our agenda for our last day at Cape Lookout.  Munson Creek Falls was a short hike maybe a mile round trip but it was worth what we found at the end of the trail.  This has been the highest waterfall that we have hiked too, I think.  It was 319 feet high.  On our way back to the car a couple in front of us were looking at some bushes.  We asked what they were looking at and they pointed out a banana slug.  We were told about these slugs when we were in the redwoods but never found any.

The farmers market was fun.  We tasted a lot of good stuff like crackers, dips, cheese, toffee, peanut brittle, fruits and salts.  We walked away with toffee and some fresh lavender.  Jeff then saw a taco trailer and wanted a taco.  He has been wanting a taco from a taco vendor since we were in Texas.

Last stop was the Blue Heron whose specialty was French cheese.  We tried all kinds of brie, mustard and dips.  We also tried some wine.  We walked away with some port and some brie---nice catch.

As we traveled through Tillamook we noticed that they were different colored quilt squares on various buildings.  I heard about this from the quilt shop at home and I have seen one or two while driving through this country but not this many at one time.  I found a brochure explaining the blocks and the history of the building that they are on.  The trail in Tillamook has 16 but the surrounding area has 44 of these colorful blocks.  I didn't realize that this was a very popular trail to follow.  We were already on the road when I really read the brochure.  There is a website for those quilt lovers out there www.tillamookquilttrail.org and you can see for yourself.  I only took a few pictures.

This was kind of a nice way to end our short time in Oregon.  We have all enjoyed it!!!
