Monday, July 13, 2015-Trip to Hoh Rainforest and Ruby Beach
We left at 9am to see the rainforest in Olympic National
Park. The weather looked like we were
going to see the sun today and it was going to be warm. So our trip so far we have ventured thru
mountains, walked several beaches with white sand, black sand and gray sand and
rocks of all different colors, a volcano, the desert and hot springs too. Now we are seeing a rainforest. It was a nice walk through the huge trees
with all kinds of moss growing. Large
ferns were everywhere. It was a very
quiet and peaceful walk.
Seeing that we were close to Ruby Beach we went here
also. Some say that if the light hits
this beach right it may take on a garnet color.
No luck. We took the short walk
down to the beach. There were some tidal
pools but we didn’t see anything in them.
There was driftwood and sea stacks everywhere. The sand was kind of a grayish color as was
the beach yesterday but the stones on this beach had different colors. It was nice to see how many families, people
with their dogs, old and young people alike enjoying this beach. It was nice just to sit on a log and watch
people and the waves. We had lunch and
then headed on home. I was having some
issues with my back so I came home and took a nap.
After my nap we had dinner and played a game of Jokers and
Pegs. It is something similar to Sorry
but has a few twists and turns. At this
moment the boys are leading 21-16.
Tomorrow we are going to do a hike up Hurricane Ridge and
maybe venture to Port Angeles to find some good pizza.
Happy Birthday, Jayme.
