Wednesday, July 15, 2015 Drive to Rialto Beach- Hole in the
Wall and tidal pools
We were up and out the door by 545 am. As we were almost to the beach we had to
stop. A car in front of us had stopped
for a herd of elk maybe a dozen ranging from big too little. Didn’t expect that but they crossed the road
and headed into the woods. I did manage
to get a picture of the end of the group.
We made it to the beach and started 1.5 mile hike to the
rock. The tide was going out and we
started to look at the rocks that were starting to show. We
started to find starfish on every rock.
We finally got to the rock. We
climbed over wet rocks to find some tidal pools with some cool sea life in
them. I was a little disappointed and
thrilled at the same time. We found some
large green anemones, sea cucumbers, 5 different colors of starfish, snails,
rough keyhole limpet, gooseneck barnacles and chitons. These were not in the same pool but here and
there. All in all it was a good morning
adventure. We managed to get in a 3.5
mile walk in.
We stayed around the camp doing odd jobs for tomorrow we
head towards Seattle, WA tomorrow morning. During our stay here Max has made a new friend--a horse. The horse is in a area right next to the campground. She sees him and gallops over to touch noses with him. Really cute.
