Friday, July 17, 2015 Trip to Seattle and Pike Place Fish
Market
We left at 10 am with a 45 min drive into Seattle. We found the market without a problem. Parking is expensive. If anyone goes get there before 9 am and it
is cheaper. The market place was
CRAZY!!! There were so many people that
it took us 3 hours to go from one end to the other. Lines were long. We did finally get to see the tossing of
fish. It draws a big crowd and everyone
loves it. We did buy some Dungeness
crab cakes for dinner tonight. I did
find a vegetable that I haven’t seen before.
It was an Italian broccoli. We
then found a fruit that was new. It was
called a Rainier Cherry (wonder were they got that name) and it tasted almost
like a peach and cherry mixed. There were
plenty of samples and most of them were real good. There is plenty of food for everyone to
taste. I saw French, Russian, Turkish,
Mexican and a whole lot more. It is a
very unique place. We also saw the very
first Starbucks.
On our way back to the campground the boys wanted to show us
some old trains that they had seen. They
also saw a park that they wanted to check out.
As it turns out it was called Snoqualmie Falls Park and on this property
was a waterfall. This waterfall
generates electric power for the region.
It was a very nice waterfall and we didn’t have to hike a few miles to
see it.
On our drive we were able to catch a glimpse of Mt.
Rainier. This was a very majestic
mountain with its snow caps. It is hard
to believe that it is July and the temperature was in the 80’s and we can still
see snow.
Our dinner was great.
The crab cakes were very good. We
played our favorite game and the boys are still leading 25-18. Time is closing in on us. Jeff and Amy are down to 9 days before we part
ways. We will part company after we
finish with Yellowstone. They are going
to Grand Tetons and we are going to Glacier National Park.
