July 23, 2015 Day at the camp-Rained all day and July 24, 2015- Another day trip into Yellowstone

Thursday, July 23, 2015 Day at the camp-Rained all day

Today was a do whatever needs to be done at the camp day.  We were able to sleep till we couldn’t stay in bed anymore.  I caught up on laundry, Mike flushed the outside of our radiator, we caught up on some much needed emails and made some reservations for the next leg of our trip.

It was afternoon before we caught up with Jeff and Amy and we decided that we were going to have a game marathon.  We played 8 games the girls won 4 and the boys when 4 but the sad news is that the girls are behind by 7 games.  We unfortunately have not had the lead at all. We left fairly early as we were getting up before dawn to make one more attempt at seeing some different wildlife tomorrow morning.

Friday, July 24, 2015- Another day trip into Yellowstone

We left at 430 am because to get where we needed to go was 1.5 hours away.  The roads were pretty foggy on and off all the way to our destination.  Our first destination was Lamar Valley.  Here we found 100’s of buffalo.  We saw them in the meadows, crossing the road and coming down the hills.  Next we headed to Tower Falls, Mammoth Hot Springs where we toured the Upper and Lower Terraces and Obsidian Cliff.  On the way back we saw that traffic was stopped and there were a lot of people around, so we stopped.  It was a Golden Eagle in the water.  This is the only new thing that we have seen in all of our trips into the park.  We are a little disappointed but that is how it goes.  We have enjoyed this park immensely.   We may come back when things are slow.  We haven’t missed too much except some of the long trails but the altitude has done a number on my breathing.

We came home took a nap, had dinner and played our game.  Boys are still up 7.  Well tomorrow is our last day together.  We are not planning on doing anything but stay around the campground and go out to dinner tomorrow night.  We are really going to miss Jeff and Amy.  Everyone is leaving early Sunday morning.  We are going to Glacier National Park and Jeff and Amy are going to the Tetons.

It is official Mike has lost 20 pounds since we started this trip. I have lost 6. We are hoping it continues.
