Mike and I worked on our family trees to get it in order last night and then some this morning before we headed out. We were only going to make a few inquiries to make sure we had everything that we needed and then come home.
We parked the car and walked around trying to find the visitor's center so we could get some things to see and do in Salt Lake City. The first visitor center was not what we thought it was . It was the visitor's center for the Latter Day Saints. This building was massive so we walked around seeing all that was there. I was amazed at how many people were actually there and what impressed me the most was the life like people that they had around the building. The detail was incredible.
You will see when you look at one of the pictures where I took a picture of Isaiah's hand.
After we left this building we used our phones to get directions and the visitor center that we really wanted was a 1/2 mile away so we walked not knowing that this walk was mostly uphill! (Jeff and Amy it was almost as bad as San Francisco.) We got some really good information about other places that we are going to be visiting in Utah as well. Good stop. On the way we came across the Eagle Gate Monument. The original was built in 1859 to mark the entrance to Brigham Young's farmland. It has been taken down 3 times and rebuilt to its final glory that you see today.
We did stop at the 2 research centers to find out which ones would benefit us the most and decided that we will come back tomorrow and start when we had more time. At both centers the people that we talked too were very helpful. Going from place to place we had to stroll through Temple Square. This place is so relaxing I just wanted to get my book and read. We are going to have to take some time just to walk around this beautiful square.
